Bashar Barakah Jackson was a Brooklyn born rapper who performed under the stage name, ‘Pop Smoke.’ Under this name, he released popular tracks such as Welcome to the Party and Got it on Me. Pop Smoke’s potential was evident right from the release of his first album.
He was regaled for his smoky vocals which he combined with the established Sonics of Chicago. The resulting sound propelled Pop Smoke to fame.
On the 19th of February 2020, news broke that Bashar had passed away from a gunshot wound sustained during a home invasion. Find out what his net worth was at the time of his death.
Despite being fairly green in the music industry, Pop Smoke had amassed a respectable amount of wealth at the time of his death. This mostly came from the shows and festivals he was brought on to headline. Bashar also generated decent returns from the two mixtapes he released: Meet the Woo and Meet the Woo 2.
The latter was a project that featured the likes of Lil Tjay and Quavo. At the time of his death, Pop Smoke was estimated to have a net worth of $700,000.
Pop Smoke owned a 2,918 square foot property in the Hollywood Hills. It was believed to have four bedrooms in total; the master bedroom in particular was something to behold, equipped with a private terrace and soaking tub.
Some of the other amenities include an infinity pool, zen garden, fire lounge, and even a spa. To cap it all off, it had a sundeck that overlooked the Pacific and the L.A Skyline. Six months after Pop Smoke was shot in the house, it was listed for a fee of $2.95 million.
Pope Smoke’s short-lived music career began two years ago. At the time, he was spending time at the studio with Jay Gwuapo. While he was there, Bashar secretly recorded a few music tracks, inspired by the local drill music scene.
It would take another year before Bashar released his debut track, MPR. It generated a significant amount of attention, opening the door to a working relationship with producers such as Rico Beats.
Despite being a novice rapper, Pop Smoke collaborated with other established musicians such as Nicky Minaj and Gatti.
